Li'anga Huo a Maui

A hole in the cliff said to be created by the ancient Polynesian God, Maui, who threw his garden hoe into the cliff face.

Lakufa'anga

The ancient home of Tu’akau’ia and his family. During a famine, there were only pandanus fruits available for the family to eat. When the pandaus fruits ran out, the family sacrificed themselves by jumping off the cliff. Locals noticed that the seven turtles would appear in the area where the pandanus fruits were thrown into the sea and believed that it was Tu’akau’ia and his family.

Rock Garden

A magnificent natural site. This place is home to a type of Pandanus called the “Hingano” whose flower is unmatched in essence, beauty and aura.

'Ana'Ahu

An almost bottomless sinkhole located inland of ‘Eua island. A waterfall flows into the sinkhole and creates a surrounding mist, making it look like smoke. Try throwing a stone into the sinkhole. It is so deep that you cannot hear it hit the bottom.

Lakupo Lookout

An amazing lookout above Lakupo Beachon the Eastern side of ‘Eua.

Hafu Pool

The bathing place of a handsome mana’ia named Tu’i Ha’atala. King Taufa’ahau Tupou IV named the place Kumete ‘a ‘Aho’eitu.

Heke Slide

A very slippery natural slide created by water flowing from the highlands.

Tokopuha Folokotoa

During the time of Kaufana, only members of the royal families were allowed to be buried on land. Everyone else would be thrown into the crack on the reef to be sunk into the ocean floor. King Tupou II abolished the practice during his reign.

Solider Grave (Lonely Grave)

The highest point in ‘Eua and the resting place of New Zealand solider Lance Corporal A.E. Yealands. He was a member of the T-Force during the darkest days of the Pacific War and died Feb 22, 1943.

A perfect lookout to capture the scenery of the moon and sunrises facing the Tonga trench.
